Combo Cascade
This is my amateur attempt at recreating the classic DOS game Chain Reaction, made for Bevy Jam #6 where the topic was Chain Reaction. Being busy with work and other projects, I can never find time to deep dive into game development, so I made this project as a teaching moment for myself - a way to explore multiple topics related to game development within a constrained timeframe. Combo Cascade as it stands in this Bevy Game Jam submission doesn't try to evolve or build on the systems introduced by the original game, but rather attempts to recreate them.
How to Play
Chain Reaction is a strategic turn-based game where players take turns placing orbs on a grid. When a cell reaches its critical mass (corner cells: 2 orbs, edge cells: 3 orbs, center cells: 4 orbs), it explodes and sends orbs to adjacent cells, potentially causing chain reactions. Any opponent orbs in those cells get converted to your color. The goal is to eliminate all opponent orbs from the board.
Note: The game jam version doesn't have bot AI implemented, so you'll need to play as both players or find someone to take turns with you on the mouse - which I'd be stoked to hear about if you do!
